Karen is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in psychology and physical therapy. She has 20 years of experience as an outpatient physical therapist treating a wide variety of both orthopedic and neurological patients. Her background also includes 12 years as student and teacher of the Graham technique of modern dance. Karen has found in Pilates a field of study that combines her love of movement with the scientific principles that have informed her practice as a physical therapist.
She is a certified through the National Pilates Certification Program. She completed the Comprehensive Teacher Training program through PHI Pilates. Karen is also a Certified Instructor for Pilates for Buff Bones, a Pilates based program designed for those with osteoporosis / low bone density, and has completed Core Align Levels I and II instructor training. Additional movement studies have included Feldenkrais technique, Alexander technique, yoga, and a blackbelt in Tang Soo Do.
